About Us

Eowyn is a small, family-owned cattery nestled among the pines on the outskirts of Raleigh, NC.  All my kittens are raised underfoot, and all the cats share their home with my geriatric Golden Retriever, Rosie O' Doggie.

I became the owner of my first Wegie almost by accident.  In 2001, I saw an advertisement for Norwegian Forest kittens in the local paper.  I called the number and told the woman who answered that I wasn't really in the market for a kitten, but I'd love to see what this breed looked like.  She said to come on over.  What I saw were the most beautiful little fluffballs.  I thought they were wonderful, but I still wasn't in the market for one.  Three years later, I saw this same woman at a cat show.  She remembered me and told me that she had a shy six-month old kitten who needed a good home.  I told her I'd be over the next week to look at him.  Angus turned out to be my first Wegie.  He was shy, though, for several years.  Now, at the ripe old age of almost 13, nothing bothers him.  His breeder, Vicki Baylus, gave me my first show cat, Koryn's Josefin.  By this time, I'd fallen completely in love with this breed.  Later, when I decided to breed Norwegians, Vicki, who was already a friend by that time, became a mentor to me.  But as I meet other breeders of this ancient breed of cat, I continue to learn.  I pick up new information every time I talk with someone.  Breeding is a complicated thing and one should always be open to suggestions.

I enjoy showing my cats and encourage the new owners of my kittens to become involved in showing, too.  It's a wonderful way to bond with your pet, meet other people who share your passion for Norwegian Forest Cats, and an excellent way to showcase the breed.
